GUEST THIRD PARTY INJURY—WHAT TO DO

RHA offers these suggested steps when an accident occurs involving an injury.

ASSIST THE GUEST

  1. Do not admit or assess blame for the incident.
  2. Make the injured person as comfortable as possible. Offer the use of the first aid kit but do not administer any first aid.
  3. Offer to call the Emergency Medical Service (EMS).
  4. Offer to call a relative, friend, limousine service or taxicab to drive the injured person home or to the airport, as applicable. DO NOT allow a Resort employee to drive an injured person home or to the hospital.
  5. DO NOT OFFER payment or expenses or settlement of any kind.

GATHER FACTS & WITNESS STATEMENTS

  1. Inspect the area where the reported accident occurred.
  2. Gather data from the injured person, including name and contact information, as well as their description of the accident.
  3. Gather data from all witnesses, including name and contact information, as well as their description of the accident.
  4. Take photographs of the area immediately - before the site is altered. Note: On the back of photo write 1) date and time of photo, 2) name of person taking the photo, and 3) any changes or alterations that were made after the accident but prior to taking the photo
  5. Place photographs and notes about the accident in a safe place for future reference.

REPORT THE ACCIDENT

  1. Report the accident to REM by completing the Claim Reporting Form below and faxing it to the appropriate REM office.
